How do i help my friend With Stopping Binge Eating?

My Close friend Alex Is always eating tons of food I have gone online and it seems like binge eating. Do you have any advice as to helping him through it

Binge eating can be classified as an eating disorder if it is bad enough…if this really effects your friends life i would advise them to see a psychologist or someone that can help work out the issues that your friend may be trying to deal with or supress by binge eating…eating disorders are really hard and frustrating…usually caused by really deep and complicated feelings which means something like simple distraction will not work in the long run ..i really wish you all the best….your a great friend for trying to help </3

Get him out of the house to go do something that doesn't require food. Movies are probably a bad idea, with the snack bar so handy. Take him to a museum or zoo, or for a drive in the country, but only bring healthy snacks like carrot sticks, and let him munch away at those. Go for a walk with him, but avoid areas where food will be available. And most of all, TALK to him. Don't talk about his problem with binge eating, but about school, friends, his likes and dislikes. Maybe you'll hear a clue about what is causing him to binge, and use that information to find other things to do with him so he isn't constantly eating.

he sounds stressed. i guess you'd have to first look for the reason behind all the binge eating. is it because he's hungry? or is he turning toward food for comfort? (comfort food)
