Inside Brookhaven Obesity Clinic (Episode 2, Pt. 6/6)

At Brookhaven, super morbidly obese people struggle to reclaim their health and their lives.

I apologize for any moving or disturbances. I was trying to position the camera properly, and get the picture to work properly, without weird black lines.

    Compassion is a …
    Compassion is a human trait.
Every life has worth -just because YOU’RE too ignorant to see it, doesn’t mean we all are.
I’m sure some would have an excellent argument for shooting you.

    How can you say …
How can you say change is impossible when you just saw a man bust his and loose 200lbs in half a year? Went from dying to living..
I’m grateful that you aren’t in charge of who lives and who dies in this world, you’d probably drown babies with birth defects too!

    That’s exactly …
That’s exactly right, you have to remember that these people are changing their bodies.

Unfortunately, your body DOES NOT want to change, so these changes have to be made SLOWLY.

Fortunately, you can cheat a little. There are negative calorie food such as apples as oranges (You can burn 25 calories digesting a 50 calorie orange).

You should also increase your fibre intake. Keeps you fuller, longer.

    Cold water also helps.

    It seems like once
It seems like once these folks hit over 300-350 that change is impossible. Maybe they need to focus more on people they can help, when they are 350 or under an have a chance. Because what type of change is being 55 years old and 600 lbs?

  9. DefyingGravity99 on October 16th, 2008 5:15 pm

    Being obese is very …
Being obese is very difficult, I was 5′11 and 260 pounds, I am now 200. Basically, when you start out losing weight, the results aren’t fast enough, and you feel bad, and end up putting on more weight!

Crack for some, food for others.

    You can do it …
    You can do it Vincent!

    exactly.They could …
exactly. They could start by cutting out the sugar loaded pop and replace it with water. And then slowly make other changes.Wholewheat bread instead of white.Real cheese instead of processed etc..

    I honestly don’t …
I honestly don’t think these people are even informed as to all the poison that the foods they eat contain. From the growth hormones and excess fat in the meat, to the artificial sweeteners and preservatives in the other junk food. It’s a complete case of having the curtains rolled over their eyes. What makes it even worse is that junk food makes people crave more junk food. Like a feedback loop that never ends till you force it to.

  13. spade121981 on October 16th, 2008 5:15 pm

    Exactly.some of …
Exactly.some of these guys don’t want to be helped..hence the reason they smuggle food into the hospital. If I was in charge I would kick the person out for doing this even if it was just the first time.

  14. DoctorSensitive on October 16th, 2008 5:15 pm

    All these people …
All these people need is to eat right and get moderate physical activity in their daily lives! Starvation is not the answer, just eat right, get nutrient balance and all your essential amino acids and your body will not crave all that garbage fast food. It isn’t ‘food addiction’ it is self-destruction. FAST FOOD IS BAD, PROCESSED FOODS ARE BAD. Please understand this people.

    Have you all ever …
Have you all ever looked in the
mirror. Last time you looked you
were not perfect and you make
mistake and have flaws and probs.
Before you bark like the devil,
ask yourself who’s team am I on?
Looks like Satan’s to me, but im
not the judge and I know that, do
    you?

… how come no one …
… how come no one says “shoot these worthless obese pieces of in the head?” I do not understand how anyone can (could) have any compassion for these “people.”
